Formerly known as the Big Valley Ranch, for three decades, through the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, the Big Valley Ranch was farmed and used as a dude ranch where folks could board and ride horses, stay in a room and be fed.
In the late 70’s, the ranch was sold to a private group called The Sons of Norway. The ranch took on a new purpose; housing, feeding and providing members of The Sons of Norway with a retreat named, The Land of the Vikings.
In 2020, the Land of the Vikings was put up for sale and purchased by John Elliott, who renamed it, Big Valley Lodge, and keeping the hotel, kitchen, and The Pillager bar open for patrons near and far.
The Lodge provides the perfect backdrop for fly fishermen, snowmobilers, ATV riders, and hunters. Celebrations, private parties, and events with full catering is available, with 25 rooms available for overnight stays.
